OUR MAY WINNER IS: Dennis Daley

Dennis’s Question: “I have a large underground pool in my backyard that is maintained on a weekly basis with a pool filter and chlorine. Would this be an acceptable use for emergency water and what would need to be done to this water to make it potable and keep it potable for an extended period of time?”

Pool water in and of itself is obviously not drinkable. As long as it is not salt water there are two great products that we carry that will convert your pool water into drinkable water.

One is the Seychelle water filtration bottle. It will convert 100 gallons of pool water into drinkable water as it removes the chlorine contained in the water. The filtration into drinkable water should be considered on a smaller scale.

The AquaPail is new on the market and considered a perfect solution to converting a large quantity of water quickly into drinkable water. Like the Seychelle water filtration bottle it will filter out chlorine. However, the difference is that the AquaPail provides the fastest solution in the treatment process. With AquaPail you can treat up to 12 gallons of water per hour, making it the fastest portable treatment system available today.  And the quantity? A model 5000 will run up to 10,000 gallons of pool water.  That would make your pool a great resource for stored water in the event of an emergency!
